Parish Council Noticeboard

Twigworth Parish Council now has its very own Noticeboard, located at the Co-Op, Local Centre… all Parish Council and official notices will now be posted here, the noticeboards at the Orchard Park Bus Shelter and A38 Lay-By will no longer be supported with regular posts.

With thanks to the Mid Counties Co-Op and Robert Hitchens for their kind permissions and GCC Build Back Better scheme for their grant.


Tributes paid to Tewkesbury Borough Councillor, Cllr Elaine MacTiernan

Colleagues have paid tribute to a councillor who has sadly passed away following a hard-fought battle with cancer.  

Independent councillor Cllr Elaine MacTiernan, who represented the Northway ward for Tewkesbury Borough Council, recently passed away. Cllr MacTiernan was elected as a borough councillor in 2011.  

Councillor Philip Workman, Mayor of Tewkesbury Borough, said: “I am deeply saddened by the passing of Cllr MacTiernan. Her work made a considerable impact on our community, and she tirelessly campaigned on behalf of those within her ward. I am grateful for her wise counsel, patience and good humour and I would like to extend our deepest condolences and sympathies to all who knew her.”   

Alistair Cunningham, Chief Executive of Tewkesbury Borough Council, said: “We are deeply saddened by the loss of Cllr MacTiernan, a remarkable individual who embodied dedication and compassion in her role as a borough councillor. Her vast life experience enriched her work, enabling her to serve with wisdom and integrity.  

“She was a trusted figure among her constituents and officers, always approachable and dependable. Her absence leaves a void that will be keenly felt by all who knew her. She will be sorely missed, but her legacy will continue to inspire us.” 

Flags will fly at Tewkesbury Borough Council offices at half-mast as a mark of respect.

Twigworth Parish Council have expressed their sadness at this news and send condolences to her family and friends, we pay tribute to Cllr Elaine MacTiernan for her services to the Tewkesbury Borough and as a mark of respect, have lowered our flag to half mast at the Church of St Matthew.


40mph and 50mph Speed Limits – A38 Tewkesbury Road, Down Hatherley

Gloucestershire County Council is proposing:

1.     To introduce a 40mph speed limit along part of the A38 Tewkesbury Road, Down Hatherley; and

2.   To reduce the extent of the existing 50mph speed limit to align with the proposed extent of 40mph speed limit mentioned in number 1 above.
