23/00441/FUL Land To The West Of Twigworth Court Farm, Tewkesbury Road

Tewkesbury Borough Council Planning Committee, have today, 23rd April 2024 approved the above application for the installation of ground mounted solar to export up to 16 MW (AC) electricity, comprising photovoltaic panels and associated infrastructure and works.

This planning application was objected to by the Twigworth Parish Council.

The attached drawing shows the extent of this Solar Farm but the Land Ownership is much larger.

Dedicated support for communities recently affected by flooding will soon be available around the borough.

The National Flood Forum support team, along with Tewkesbury Borough Council’s Community officers and other agencies, will be visiting Tewkesbury, Tirley, Sandhurst, Minsterworth and Longford from Tuesday, 23 April in a mobile support vehicle.

Around 45% of all planning applications received by the service are invalid. This has a significant impact on time and resources, puts pressure on the Planning team and causes delays for customers.

Live flood warnings as River Severn expected to burst its banks in Gloucestershire

The Environment Agency has said they expect the River Severn to burst its banks today, Sunday, April 7, and tomorrow, Monday, April 8, due to high tide coupled with high river levels following weeks of rain.

 Flood Alert in force: River Severn in Gloucestershire; flooding is possible for: River Severn from Tewkesbury to Gloucester.

Be prepared.

 River levels are rising at the Tewkesbury Upper Pound river gauge as a result of heavy rainfall.    Further rainfall is forecast this evening and into Friday.  We expect flooding to affect low lying land and roads adjacent the River Severn from Tewkesbury to Gloucester. Locations that may be affected include Apperley and Maisemore. Severn Ham, Tewkesbury starts to fill. Predicted peaks:- Mythe 3.8m to 4.3m Saturday afternoon 06/04/24, Haw Bridge 4.8m to 5m Saturday morning 06/04/24, Gloucester 3.3m to 3.8m Monday morning  08/04/24.    

Further rainfall is forecast over the next 48 hours.  Blustery showers are forecast for the weekend.  We expect river levels to remain high until early next week.  
We are closely monitoring the situation.  Our incident response staff are checking defences.   
Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded.

The planning tool enables anyone in Tewkesbury Borough to check whether they are likely to need planning permission for any project they are thinking of developing.

The service is part of a national scheme by the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (DLUHC) to improve resident and landowners’ experience of submitting planning applications.

Flooding is possible for: River Severn from Tewkesbury to Gloucester.

Be prepared.

 River levels are forecast to rise at the Tewkes Upper Pound river gauge as a result of heavy rainfall.  Consequently, flooding of roads and farmland is possible from the early morning tomorrow, 27/03/24.  We expect flooding to affect low lying land and roads adjacent the River Severn from Tewkesbury to Gloucester. Locations that may be affected include Apperley and Maisemore. Severn Ham, Tewkesbury starts to fill. Predicted peaks:- Mythe 3.3m to 3.6m Saturday 30/03/24, Haw Bridge 4.2m to 4.5m Saturday 30/03/24, Gloucester 3.0m to 3.3m 28/03/24 due to interaction with high tides.   
Further rainfall is forecast over the next few days
We are closely monitoring the situation.  
Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses and avoid contact with flood water.
