Greener Gloucestershire climate change community fund!

The Greener Gloucestershire community climate change fund is to help Gloucestershire reduce carbon emissions within communities. This will improve health, reduce the risks from extreme weather events and create thriving local networks.

Eligible groups don’t have to be climate experts to apply. We’re just as keen to hear from communities who are starting their journey to take action to protect their local environment.

The fund can deliver grants of up to £4,999 to eligible groups. The closing date for applications is the 26th February

LAURENCE ROBERTSON MP – LOCAL FLOODING SPEECH IN PARLIAMENT

Facebook Video link to Laurence Robertson MP speech in Parliament 9 Jan 2024: https://www.facebook.com/share/v/YdJ6wfPPW82CvxXf/

“The awful flooding that has affected so many over the past week has damaged homes, farms and livelihoods, and we must do all we can to mitigate the devastating impact it continues to have on our community. Although things have improved, there is still much more that can be done, which is why I am continuing to press for further flood resilience measures in Parliament.

Yesterday I asked the Minister to hold discussions on the potential benefits of river dredging with the Environment Agency, which may help to alleviate the impact of flooding on certain areas. This is, of course, one potential action amongst many, however I will continue to explore all options with Ministers.

As always, please do get in touch with my office at laurence.robertson.mp@parliament.uk if you have any comments or queries. My website, laurencerobertson.org.uk, will be updated with the latest information.”

River Severn at Twigworth and Longford flood warning area

View map of the flood warning area(Visual only)

This Flood Warning has been removed.

River levels are falling, but still pose a flood risk. The Flood Warning for the area has now been removed. However, a Flood Alert remains in force for the wider area, so flooding may still affect roads and low-lying land. No further rainfall is forecast.

We continue to monitor the situation.

Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded.
