A Flood Alert has been issued by the Environment Agency
Flood Alert in force: River Severn in Gloucestershire.
Flooding is possible for: River Severn from Tewkesbury to Gloucester.
Be prepared.
River levels have risen at the Mythe Bridge river gauge as a result of heavy rainfall. Consequently, flooding of roads and farmland is possible overnight tonight, 04/12/23. We expect flooding to affect low lying land and roads adjacent the River Severn from Tewkesbury to Gloucester.
Locations that may be affected include Apperley and Maisemore. Predicted peaks:- Mythe 3.4m to 3.7m Wed am, Haw Bridge 4.5m to 4.6m Wed am, Sandhurst 3.1m to 3.4m Wed am, Gloucester 2.6m to 2.9m Wed am.
Further rainfall is forecast over the next 24 hours, with further heavy rainfall Wednesday overnight into Thursday. We expect river levels to remain high until Thursday 07/12/23.
We are closely monitoring the situation and checking defences.
Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded.

An interim Housing Position Statement was given the green light at Tewkesbury Borough Council’s Full Council meeting on Tuesday, 21 November, a document which sets out how the council will address its housing supply shortfall by supporting sustainable housing schemes.
£87.9m pothole funding boost for Gloucestershire

Gloucestershire County Council’s road improvement plans have been boosted with an additional £87.9m funding from the government.
Planning application fee increase effective from 6 December 2023
Legislative amendments to increase planning application fees have now been formally “made” and will take effect on 6 December 2023
Funding available to businesses across Tewkesbury Borough through the Rural England Prosperity Fund
Businesses across Tewkesbury Borough are invited to apply for a new grant scheme. Funding is available to improve productivity and to strengthen the rural economy and rural communities.
£80,000 funding available across Tewkesbury Borough through cultural and community grant schemes
Cultural, historical and heritage organisations and community buildings across Tewkesbury Borough are invited to apply for two new grant schemes. A total of £80,000 has been made available to support groups across the borough.
New measures to improve road safety and bus services set to be introduced
New measures are set to be introduced by Gloucestershire County Council to cut congestion, speed up local bus services, encourage more walking and cycling and improve road safety.

We expect flooding to affect low lying land and roads adjacent the River Severn from Tewkesbury to Gloucester. Locations that may be affected include Apperley and Maisemore. Predicted peaks:- Mythe 3.1m to 3.6m Tuesday evening 14/11/23, Upper Pound Tewkesbury 3.2m to 3.6m Tuesday evening 14/11/23.
Further rainfall is forecast over the next few days which may keep levels high.
We are closely monitoring the situation.
