Tewkesbury Borough Council is extending a consultation on its intention to change its name to North Gloucestershire Borough Council, giving people until the end of July to respond.

Due to restrictions placed on the council in the run-up to the parliamentary election, the council was prevented from actively consulting as it normally would.

As a result, the feedback period has been extended, and the consultation will now run until Wednesday, 31 July.

  1. why change Tewkesbury Borough Council’s name? During this period where the costs of food, rents, energy etc have increased, including council tax, do the councillors want to waste money in the expense of changing the borough council name which will involve in my opinion unnecessary expenditure in having new stationery, software changes, signage etc, when this money could go to much needed local borough services. When the councillors were elected there was no mention of any change, why not? What is wrong with keeping it Tewkesbury, you do not have to change just for the sake of change. There are I’m sure more important and higher priority issues that could use the money it will involve in changing.
